'WCSH' report features ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ studentβs internship at Scarborough Terrace

ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ senior Sarah Titcomb (HWOS, β18) spends two days a week with residents of Scarborough Terrace, an assisted living facility for older adults.
βIt's so much fun,β Titcomb says. βThe residents are a riot. They're all so different, with their own personalities.β
Her internship at the facility was recently featured in a news report on .
Titcomb spends most of her time there engaged in activities with the residents -- everything from playing the piano to friendly games of bean bag toss.
βIn school we've learned so much about social participation and how important it is for wellness in older adults,β she explains. βTaking what Iβve learned and incorporating it into what I do at Scarborough Terrace has just been super beneficial.β
Itβs clear from the reaction of residents that Sarahβs efforts are greatly appreciated.
βWe really enjoy her,β one resident told WCSH. βSheβs a delightful person.β
Titcomb is planning for a career in occupational therapy after she graduates this year. She says the experience gained through the internship will be an asset to her professionally.
βTo be able to actually get hands on experience within this population has been helpful all around,β she states.
