ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔβs David Livingstone Smith talks American politics at UPenn and UC Riverside

David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, has given talks on philosophy, politics and Trump at University of California, Riverside and the University of Pennsylvania.
Smith spoke about βThe politics of salvation: ideology, propaganda, and race in Trump's America" before leading a panel discussion at the University of California, Riverside. In the first part of his talk, Smith discussed Trumpβs rhetoric, arguing that Trumpβs speeches follow the same pattern of Money-Kryleβs Psychology of Propaganda. In the second half of his talk, Smith spoke about Trumpism, ideology and philosophy.
At the University of Pennsylvania, Smith addressed βThe Politics of Salvationβ as part of the universityβs conference on βTrump, Philosophy, and American Politics: Philosophical Implications of the 45th Presidency.β This event brought together scholars to discuss issues raised by the election, the transition from the Obama Administration to the Trump Administration and the early days of the Trump presidency.
