ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ College of Pharmacy students raise $6,000 for Shriners Hospital for Children

On March 24, students from the ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ College of Pharmacy Class of β19 held their Halfway Charity Gala. The celebration, which marks the midpoint of the second-year studentsβ pharmacy program, was held at Port City Music Hall in Portland. All proceeds benefited Shriners Hospitals for Children.
This yearβs Class of β19 raised $6,000 for the organization, topping last yearβs fundraising to make this the most successful College of Pharmacy gala to date.
The class selected the Shriners Hospitals for Children after reviewing several charitable organizations. Class President Justin Richards (β19), who proposed donating to the Shriners network, received corrective spinal surgery from the Shriners when he was a child.
βContributing to the Shriners network not only allows us to improve the lives of children, it reminds us of exactly why we are pushing ourselves through such a demanding curriculum,β said Richards. βAs pharmacy students, we work diligently to develop ourselves into the clinicians required for tomorrow's public health challenges. The halfway gala proved to be a fantastic celebration of our studentsβ successes and served as an example of what teamwork through adversity can accomplish.β
