ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ Oral Health Center hosts Children's Health Day

The ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔβs College of Dental Medicine hosted its first Childrenβs Health Day on Saturday, February 20.
The event took place from 9 to 1 p.m. at ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔβs Oral Health Center on the Portland campus.
Licensed faculty and graduate students from the College of Dental Medicine, College of Pharmacy and Departments of Dental Hygiene, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant and Nursing led interactive stations for children and their families. Through this interprofessional gathering, the graduate students also had the opportunity to learn about the work of other departments.
All children attending the event were eligible for a free fluoride varnish. They also received goodie bags filled with oral hygiene products and informational brochures from each program.
Childrenβs Health Day is one of several new initiatives put forth by the Oral Health Center. Staffed by ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ dental students under the supervision of licensed faculty dentists, this state-of-the-art clinic is committed to providing patients with high quality, affordable dental care.
In addition to Childrenβs Health Day, the Oral Health Center is offering a special promotion for National Childrenβs Dental Health Month. Now through March 31, all new patients under the age of 18 will receive a free comprehensive evaluation and x-rays.
βOur goal for Childrenβs Health Day was to raise awareness about the importance of oral health and to give families a chance to learn more about the comprehensive services provided by the Oral Health Center,β said Dr. Elias Chatah, assistant clinical professor in the College of Dental Medicine.
