Jonathan Schneider β€˜17, a student in the ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ College of Dental Medicine (ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ CDM), attended the annual American Dental Association meeting in Denver, Colorado, where he participated in Dentsply Sirona's Student Clinician Research Program/Competition (SCADA).

The event sponsors one student from each dental school in the United States to present a poster on research. Schneider was the first representative from ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ CDM to compete in the event. He worked with a team of students from the Class of 2017 including Amber Gelinas, Katie Hunt, Anh Tran and Thanh Hyunh to prepare the research project titled, Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF): Preventive Fraction Meta-Analysis,” which evaluates whether SDF is an effective alternative dental intervention for treating decay and cavities. Gelinas also attended the Denver conference and presented the research as part of the non-competitive portion of the program. Faculty mentors on the research project included Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Wallace Marsh,  M.B.A., MSE, Ph.D., R.Ph.; Interim Associate Dean of Clinical Education and Patient Care Fields Farrior, D.M.D., M.S.; and Clinical Professor Takashi Komabayashi, D.D.S., M.Dent.Sc., Ph.D.

β€œThis was my first research endeavor and it has inspired me to pursue more clinically related research topics at ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ CDM in radiology, diabetes and CEREC dentistry,” said Schneider. β€œI hope that my research skills continue to grow after graduating.”
