Lara Carlson appears on Biddeford Public Access to discuss motorsports research

Lara Carlson

Lara Carlson, DPE. FACSM, CSCS, associate professor in the Westbrook College of Health Professions, appeared on β€œIssues that Matter,” a program on Biddeford Public Access.

During the show, Carlson discussed the myth that racecar driving is easy and the stress drivers experience while competing such as heat, G force and the physicality of driving a racecar. She also discussed the importance of her research given how many people, both professional and amateur, participate in the sport. β€œWe think of the top athletes in racing, but there’s probably 500,000 weekend warriors. So at a grassroots level there’s a lot of people that race every weekend and we have two tracks right here in Maine.”
