Jane OβBrien delivers keynote address at the University of Amsterdam

Jane OβBrien, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA, Professor in the ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔβs Department of Occupational Therapy, delivered the keynote address at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on April 21, 2016. More than 150 occupational therapists, students and faculty from The Netherlands attended the conference. OβBrienβs keynote address was titled, βModel of Human Occupation for Children and Youth.β She also delivered the closing, titled, βImplementing a strength-based approach to practice with children and youth.β
OβBrien presented a workshop with Professor Marjon ten Velden of the University of Amsterdam titled, βChild Occupational Self-Assessment (COSA).β OβBrien and Professor ten Velden worked with an international committee to revise the COSA for use in practice. The assessment was based upon the Model of Human Occupation, an internationally recognized model created by the late Gary Kielhofner, who was a frequent visitor to the ΒιΆΉΒγΑΔ.
OβBrienβs presentations included work from her textbook Occupational Therapy for Children and Adolescents (7th ed.) (Case-Smith & OβBrien, 2015) which is used as a primary textbook in The Netherlands.
