The American Philosophical Association (APA) published an interview with David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, on the APA blog on December 16, 2016.

Smith was asked about his career as well as his thoughts on the field of philosophy. He expressed his pleasure that public philosophy has gained popularity in recent years. β€œUnfortunately, there are still members of the profession who regard public philosophy as a third-rate enterprise that sullies the purity of our discipline,” he said. β€œMy response to them is: β€œThree cheers for impure&²Τ²ϊ²υ±θ;±θ³σΎ±±τ΄Η²υ΄Η±θ³σ²β!”

Smith also shared that his upcoming projects include a book titled Making Monsters: The Uncanny Power of Dehumanization, which is scheduled for publication by Harvard University Press in 2018, and a paper titled β€œThe Dilemma of Ideology," which explains how ideological beliefs can have the purpose of promoting oppression even when the adoption of those beliefs is made without the intent of oppression.
