Christine Feurt organizes session at the Conference on Ecological and Ecosystem Restoration
Christine Feurt, Ph.D., of the Department of Environmental Studies, organized a session at this yearβs Conference on Ecological and Ecosystem Restoration, which was jointly hosted in New Orleans by the Society for Ecological Restoration and the Conference on Ecosystem Restoration.
The session, titled, βSustaining Coastal Landscapes and Community Benefits: Ecosystem Service Valuation to Improve the Use of Science in Policy,β focused on Feurtβs collaborative research with the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve and Clark University on the ecosystem services provided by riparian buffers and public support for the policies that protect shoreline buffers.
In the session, Feurt presented βChallenges and Rewards of Transdisciplinary Collaboration to sustain Ecosystem Servicesβ and facilitated a panel discussion on βBenefits and Barriers of Ecosystem Service Valuation for Restoration Practice and Policy.β
The conference was attended by over 600 restoration scientists, practitioners and policy makers working nationally and internationally.
