Brian Duff interviewed for Bangor Daily News story on Stephen King's remarks on Governor LePage

Brian Duff, Ph.D., associate professor of political science, was quoted in a March 14, 2011 story on Maine native and horror writer Stephen King's remarks at a Florida politcal rally where he compared Maine Gov. Paul LePage, Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, all Republicans, to β€œLarry, Curly and Moe,” the Three Stooges.

Maine Republicans and at least one political analyst quoted in the story discounted the impact of the remarks, noting that King is well-known as a contributor to the Democratic Party and liberal causes.

Duff, however, noted that King started off talking about LePage as a β€œtea party” candidate who was elected in a three-way race by only a plurality. β€œHe put his finger on something that I think is going to resonate with people in Maine. ... We’re going to hear a lot more about it.” Duff added: β€œWe ended up with a governor that is much more conservative than the Maine population as a whole."
